Electronic Ab Device Exposed

Through fat-blocking pills and miracle drinks, the multi-million dollar industry known as infomercials is being powered by diet and weight loss products. Desperate to achieve something dramatic like shed 10 pounds of fat in two days, hordes of TV viewers listen intently to the false promises their sets spew. When sales drop on one product, another soon finds its way into the land of infomercials. The latest is the electronic muscle stimulator, and unfortunately the end result is the same as all the others. It just can't do the job. These devices are splattered throughout TV stations all day, pledging a flat, sexy stomach. Simply strapping the contraption to your waist and letting the EMS do its magic for just minutes is supposedly the equivalent of doing 800 sit-ups.

Chiropractors and physical therapists have used these units for years, helping to rehabilitate limbs after severe injury, but not for weight loss or fat burning. Electronic muscle stimulators still do not have that ability, according to a University of Wisconsin study commissioned by The American Council on Exercise. With the study employing 29 college-aged volunteers deemed to be in full health, 17 individuals used an EMS three times a week over an eight-week period, and 12 did not. The results were firm, the muscles tested were not. In all cases, there was no increase in muscle, no reduction in body fat and no noticeable change whatsoever.

Another study done a few years back at Utah State proved the same. Lead researcher Julianne Abedroth-Smith said "EMS may strengthen muscles to a point, but probably will not help [individuals] lose weight, lose fat, or change their basic body dimensions." Even if these electronic ab devices could stimulate the ab muscles to develop, there is so much more that goes into creating a flat and toned midsection. Many people work their abs hard everyday for months, sometimes even years with no results. So why don't these people have great abs? Well, it's quite possible they do, they just can't be seen. While they may have developed muscular abs, they have neglected to do anything to eliminate all of the fat that is in front of them. Though powerful infomercial companies advertise quick and easy weight loss, unfortunately, there is no such thing. There is no magic pill, device, or drink that melts fat away. But I promise you, if there ever is, I will let you know. Until one comes into existence, there is only the truth, and the truth is the only way to increase metabolism and take control of your body is by learning how to eat and exercise properly. This solution may not be as exciting as a fat burning pill or ab device but it has worked for many people who were fed up with these false promises. It can work for you as well.
